You don’t necessarily need the best beer brewing equipment when you are just starting to brew beer at home.

Whether you are new to the beer brewing world or an experienced home brewer, knowing what beer brewing equipment to own can be a little overwhelming. From brew pots to ingredient kits, there are literally thousands of choices. Here are some of the items I have found to be invaluable pieces of beer brewing equipment to have on hand at all times.

When I first became interested in brewing my own beer, I had no clue where to start. Thankfully we had a homebrew store located in the town I was attending a college that provided me with all of the equipment necessary to get my feet under me. Although after my first couple of batches of beer, I soon realized that I would need to upgrade my beer brewing equipment inventory and fast!

The first item that I decided to purchase was a large stainless steel pot. Although the old canning pot I had on hand did an alright job, I knew that owning a dedicated brew kettle was a necessity. Stainless heats faster, allowing you to boil the wort much quicker. Purchasing a stainless steel pot was hands down one of the best brewing equipment items I added to my inventory.

Another item that every true home brewer should purchase at some point is a glass carboy. The traditional plastic fermentation bucket will work fine for simple batches of beer, but [easyazon_block add_to_cart=”default” align=”left” asin=”B008I3B0HS” cloaking=”default” layout=”left” localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” tag=”billhildebran-20″]eventually that bucket will become stained and will actually not work for all fermentation processes. The glass carboy will also allow the homebrewer to watch the fermentation process and makes the cleanup process much easier. Make sure you add a glass carboy to your beer brewing equipment.

One other item that you should always have on hand is a quality ingredient kit. As a beginner, I only brewed beer using malt extracts and packaged hops. As I became more experienced, I started using more grain-based beer brewing kits, and eventually started using my own mixtures of grains. No matter how much experience you have brewing, always keep a variety of ingredients on hand.

These three items are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all of the possible beer brewing equipment items out there. It did not take me very long at all to realize that in order to brew the best beer possible I would have to up my inventory and invest in the best home brewing kits. I encourage you to research all possible equipment items to add to your beer brewing inventory, and visit my personal site for even more ideas!  We also carry an invertory of some of the best books on brewing beer. See More Below
